A Rock Music History

Alternative and Metal
Musical relatives under
The Rock family.

Great grandfather Blues
The common ancestor
That crossed the pond.

Bluegrass and Folk
Several times removed uncles—
Same Celtic origins.

Crows, cardinals: the chorus
Summer’s festival.

Plastic in a Vice Grip

Hard plastic grabbing
Between forefinger and thumb.
Willing to relax,
Vice grip clamping down harder.

Discordant Noise

Clenched picking hand
Strumming sweet discordant noise
Head bobbing in time.

Ponder Natute

Nature’s orchestra
Playing no-time signature

Stale heat with no wind
Vocal choir fades, returns.

Mechanical hum
Workhorses drive by;

A roaring lion
Speeding along some journey.

Machines and nature
Answer each other’s questions

While I ponder
Nature’s reality.

October Haiku

Dissonant echoes
As chords progress through the song
Hair flies as head bobs.

September Haiku (Peace Found in Music)

Moving through motions
Revitalized by music–
Peace of mind returns

September Haiku (Lagging)

Fingertips moving
Along the neck—layered wood
Lagging picking hand.

September Haiku 1

Sun blazing overhead
Blaring distortion chugging
Bodies slam as limbs fly.
